Seats
The majority of 3 wheel double buggies begin life as single pushchairs, although some can convert to take an additional seat or carrycot with adapters (these are typically more common in tandem buggies). You'll also see that some models will allow you to include a ride-onboard for older children who would like to walk but still need some assistance.
For a lightweight alternative that's ideal for city streets, check out the Joie Evalite Duo. It's easy to maneuver and comes with a deep basket with plenty of storage space. It can accommodate twins from birth and accommodate two car seats or an infant carrycot and seat. However, the seats need to be facing forwards, and there's not enough space for a shopping bag underneath which is why you'll need a sidepack for this.
Mountain Buggy Duet will be a good option for you if you enjoy off-road driving. It's a side-by- side model with the most compact footprint of any double buggy available. This allows it to fit through narrow doors and on public transport, and enables you to climb up and down kerbs without much trouble. The iCandy Orange double buggies are among the most well-known on the market. This is due to their exceptional comfort. It's an all-terrain pushchair with a soft suspension, which makes light work of bumpy surfaces. It has 30 different seating configurations and a built-in board for older children who prefer walking, and a "cinema mode that raises the back seats to provide better visibility.
Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a great single buggy that is available from day one that is able to easily be adapted to take 2 (or 3!) in multiple configurations. This is especially useful for parents with children in a car seat, as the frame can be equipped with a wedgie that allows for optimal lie-flat positioning, or car seat adapters for a wider range of brands.
Suspension
The suspension of a double 3-wheel buggy will determine how easy you and your child/children are able to push it. A smooth ride is crucial because babies feel every bump in the road, especially if it's in rough terrain such as grass or unpaved paths. Some models also come with locking front wheels to help with maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.

Others have foam or gel tyres that are specifically designed to handle bumps and can be less susceptible to punctures, however, you might feel a bit stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back should you decide to run.
